Challenges Faced by Ethnic Minority Students in Higher Education Institutions Study Conducted in Lahore

The purpose of this research was to understand the challenges that were faced by ethnic minority students in higher education institutions in Pakistan, particularly Lahore. The study titled “The challenges faced by the ethnic minority students in higher education institutions study conducted in Lahore. A qualitative approach was applied in the research through face-to-face interviews and in-depth interview guide that provided deeper insights from the viewpoints of various ethnic minority students. A total of 12 participants were chosen from different educational institutions using purposive sampling. The research findings indicate that the language barrier has large impact on the understanding of course material and classroom participation, and this makes them feel disconnected, anxious, and sometimes in an isolation trap. Discrimination also impacts their performance in terms of academics and participating them into university life. Socioeconomic issues make these problems worse by limiting access to resources and opportunities for participation. The lack of diverse faculty and curricula exacerbates the exclusion of ethnic minority students. This study looks at how different challenges come together to impact the experiences of ethnic minority students at universities. The findings of this study can lead policymakers and educational institutions to design specific intervention programs that can overcome these challenges for them.
