Prospects and Challenges in investigating the Criminal cases and way forward in the criminal justice system of Pakistan

The research study is about the global issue of criminal investigation, its causes and effects, and particularly about the challenges faced by investigation officers in district Peshawar Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The research is focused on the perception of investigation officials with regards to their duties. Peshawar is a District in the northwest of Pakistan. The study is based on qualitative methods of research and thematic study is used to analyze the data while interview guide used to collect the data and questions were asked from respondents regarding prospects and challenges, like what are the hurdles in criminal investigation. Challenges faced by the investigation officers are worrisome and are difficult to resolve. Such challenges are major causes according to the investigation officers were, political pressure, lack of resources, their less supportive role of the locals, duty environment, abuse of power, Thana culture, lack of modern technologies, pendency of prosecution, injustice, security threats to investigation officers and witness, unawareness, lack of expertise, crime scene mobile van. In the research study researcher found the hurdles and barriers of investigation officers during the criminal cases in district Peshawar.
