Relationship Between Procrastination and Anxious Symptoms Among Graduate Students
Keywords:
Procrastination, Anxious Symptoms, Graduate Students, Time Management, Stress ReductionAbstract
The study aims to examine the relationship between procrastination and anxious symptoms among graduate students. A cross-sectional correlational research design was employed by using the convenience sampling techniques. Data were collected from 250 graduate students by using the Irrational Procrastination Scale (IPS) (Steel, 2010) and Generalized Anxiety Scale (GAS) (Spitzer et al., 2006). Procrastination showed a significant positive relationship with anxious symptoms, indicating that higher levels of procrastination were associated with greater anxiety. Additionally, procrastination was a significant positive predictor of anxious symptoms. These findings highlight the need for interventions targeting both procrastination and anxiety, suggesting the need of strategies such as time management training, stress reduction programs, and emotional regulation techniques may help to improve academic performance and psychological well-being in the targeted population.
