Abstract

This study examines the ethical challenges linked to the increasing presence of digital platforms and technologies, concentrating on the misuse of personal data, insufficient regulatory frameworks, and the moral dilemmas of digital experimentation. Utilizing the Divine Command Theory (DCT) as outlined in Islamic teachings, this analysis examines the ethical consequences of breaches in data privacy, cybercrime, and various other unethical practices in the digital realm. This study adopts a qualitative approach, drawing on the Quran, Hadith, and relevant literature as key sources to examine and interpret the ethical aspects of these matters. The results indicate that a lack of strong ethical guidelines and regulatory supervision intensifies problems like algorithmic bias, data breaches, and the exploitation of digital platforms for detrimental ends. Suggestions are offered to tackle these issues, such as incorporating universal moral principles, establishing ethical guidelines for new technologies, and enhancing ethical literacy among all involved parties. This study explores digital ethics by integrating Islamic principles with modern ethical theories, aiming to foster a fairer and more responsible digital environment that harmonizes technological advancements with ethical standards.
