Health Status of Elderly in Rural Areas of Pakistan: The Role of Social Support

This study intends to evaluate social support and health status among elder persons. In Pakistan, it has been found that different type of social support has been given to elder persons to improve their health status in the global south and global north and Pakistan has no exemptions. A cross- sectional study has been conducted and a sample of 215 elder persons having age more than 60 years has been sampled through purposive sampling technique. Structured questionnaire has been developed to measure response of elder person from the target population. It was pretested from 30 selected elder persons. The statistical analysis has been made to draw conclusion. The study findings assert that health status of elderly has been predicted by the social support and social support has been strongly positively associated with the health status of elderly in Pakistan.
