Abstract

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a major development strategy from China. It offers a key opportunity for Pakistan, especially through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This paper critically examines the potential benefits of BRI for Pakistan using a statistical analysis to assess its economic, infrastructural, and trade-related impacts. Data-driven analysis reveals a significant increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), with measurable contributions to Pakistan’s GDP and substantial job creation in both skilled and unskilled sectors. Improvements in infrastructure, like new transportation systems and better energy production, show how the (BRI) can help in solving long-standing development issues. Trade and regional connectivity have improved, as evidenced by rising export-import volumes and revenue projections from Gwadar Port as a regional trade hub. The findings reveal that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) brings both opportunities and challenges. To ensure its benefits are distributed equitably and sustained in the long term, it is important to implement evidence-based governance strategies that promote fairness and lasting prosperity for all.
